Faith

Today the sermon was about faith. The scripture was located in Hebrews Chapter 11, starting where Moses by faith . . . The ending of the sermon was faith without works is dead, works without faith is dead. I wasn't sure how we got there though.

Faith is given to us by Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Because of Faith we know that we work for God, we do the work he has before given us to do. So do you really have faith if there are no works. If you aren't compelled by God to do SOMETHING is there really any faith there. If there is no faith how can faith without works be dead? Without works, the natural outpouring of helping God gives us to do because of the Holy Spirit working within. The work is just work isn't it.

I have a problem getting ahold of this concept, "faith without works is dead". Because I see a lot of work going on but very little faith. God can and does move through us and around us and in spite of us, so why can't we trust Him? I have given over my life to Him, and I have found that doing that "trusting Him" is the key. I can do nothing, He can do everything! When true faith is at work, we have to work less because God does it for us, through us. The work is now an act of obedience and it isn't hard, it is worship. Work is work without Faith because we are doing it for ourselves by ourselves and it is hard.

I have found through giving my "life" over to God as an act of obedience He has strengthened me more than I would have ever thought. He is always there, He doesn't ask first, He just does!

Oh, well. That is my commentary on today's sermon. I really think that faith is the key to unlock the door to everlasting peace and wholeness with God. But we need to have FAITH that GOD WILL PROVIDE. Not believe he will provide. It is understood HE DOES PROVIDE TO THOSE WHO ASK!

BLESSINGS!
